问:macOS code未来的发展方向如何? 答:This whole thing is giving big MongoDB-2011 vibes. In many ways, really. The guys at Mongo launched a pretty shitty database with very impressive benchmarks, and eventually got builled by the internet (see: MongoDb is Web Scale) into implementing a proper storage engine. They acquired WiredTiger, which really is a proper storage engine. Fifteen years later, they are a serious and viable database company. And yet there’s still a lot of technical people who remember the early days of Mongo and refuse to use it in production or recommend it. Their information is outdated. Modern Mongo is a serious database that works. But the bad technical reputation lingers, and will linger forever.

问:macOS code对行业格局会产生怎样的影响? 答:I pointed out, if such a principle were raised to the level of dogma, none of the several books that were then keeping Random House fiscally afloat — Paul Kennedy’s The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers, John Berendt’s Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (eventually spending a record two hundred and sixteen weeks on the bestseller list, and adapted into a film by Clint Eastwood), and Joe Klein’s Primary Colors (published anonymously and made into a movie by Mike Nichols in 1998) — would ever have been acquired. None had been expected to be a bestseller, and each had started out with a ten-thousand copy first printing.
